STAR TOURING AND RIDING ASSOCIATION AND FEED THE CHILDREN TO HELP 400 GREENVILLE FAMILIES

GREENVILLE, S.C. (June x, 2012) – On Saturday, June 9, Feed The Children will team with members of STAR Touring & Riding Association Chapter 352 to provide food and essentials for 400 Greenville area families. Feed The Children’s semi tractor-trailer will meet members of STAR Touring at 8 a.m. at Cherrydale Cinema Parking Lot (3221 N. Pleasantburg Dr.) for the beginning of the parade. The parade will end at United Ministries, located at 606 Pendleton St. The food distribution will take place at 10 a.m.

STAR Touring is the officially recognized Star Motorcycle owners group. Chapters raise funds to sponsor Feed The Children distributions in their respective areas across the United States. This charitable donation to the Greenville, South Carolina community is made possible by the members of STAR Chapter 352. Those members are also donating their time to hold the parade and help distribute the food and essentials.

Feed The Children partner agency United Ministries has pre-identified the recipient families. Each family has received a voucher which entitles them to a 25-pound box of food and a 10-pound box of personal care items. The boxes are designed to help a family of four for up to one week.

One in five children living in Greenville County (21.3 percent) is considered impoverished. The number of impoverished children in South Carolina (277,722) could fill Greenville-Pickens Speedway more than 13 times.

“Once again, we are so thankful to STAR Touring & Riding Association for helping to provide the food and essentials to families,” said Tony Sellars, spokesperson for Feed The Children. “We can always count on STAR Touring and their members to help keep our trucks rolling across the country.”
